House dust mites are tiny (up to 0.3 mm) animals related to ticks and spiders and live in house dust. There is not a house without them, but some houses contain huge numbers and other houses contain almost none. Unfortunately for us this is not related to cleanliness, but by the relative humidity/moisture in our homes. Therefore your carpet, favourite chair and clothing are all haunts of the dust mite. One of their favourite places is our mattresses – think about it, under your sheets your mattress is warm and humid, perfect conditions for the dust mite, not only that, we provide them with a delicious diet of dead skin cells on a nightly basis. In fact we all spend around a third of a lives in bed – no wonder dust mites like the mattresses so much.
It is very often the waste and subsequent mould and bacteria that the dust mites create which produce many people’s allergic reactions and poor sleep.
Our mattresses have a state of the art knitted cover which is treated with Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is known to ward off mites and insects but also fights against bacteria and mould.
In fact, the only way to prevent dust mites in your mattress is to use dust-mite resistant cover. This is why most "dust-mite free" claims are not true. Although the extremely dense structure of memory foam makes it more difficult for dust mites inhabit the memory foam.
